Road Atlas takes to the Palm

MondoVox provided external design consultancy during the development of Rand McNally's Road Atlas for the Palm™ m505 and m500 PDAs. Specifically, we worked with internal creatives, programmers and cartographers to ensure consistency with the printed Road Atlas and the Rand McNally brand.

We created icons and road rendering graphic guidelines, designed to work at various zoom stages and provided design guidelines for use by the team's programers.

Initially designed for the m505 and m500 devices, we created both color and greyscale graphic guidelines, taking into consideration, the unique screen characteristics of each. We also coordinated the four color process screen and graphic conversions for use in printed materials including signage, displays, packaging, and sales collaterals.

Software Interface – We provided external consulting guidance on the overall graphic development as it relates to the existing Road Atlas.

Navigation – Cohesion with Palm standards and navigation guidelines was critical.

Iconography – We designed icons that ensure cohesion to the printed Road Atlas.

POP and packaging – We provided guidance and graphic conversions of software elements for use in various print POP components including signage, packaging, and sales collateral.
